A retreat centre first and foremost
The accommodation at Valley View has been designed to offer an optimum Yogandspice retreat experience. Our four acre site on the edge of the North York Moors, has protected woodland and a gurgling stream with waterfall. The area abounds with wildlife and we make every effort to nurture it. And our rooms have direct access to the outdoors and views of the natural surroundings.
Stay as long as you like
If you join Yogandspice for an organised event but want to stay a little longer, rooms are always available because we are a retreat centre first and foremost.
Single, twin and double rooms
We have single, twin and double rooms in our woodland log cabins and also in the main house. Our log cabins have wood burning stoves. All rooms have little extras including meditation seats, salt lamps and essential oil diffusers to make your stay more mindful. We also provide more functional extras such as hairdryers, tea making facilities and small fridges. Our log cabins have basic cooking facilities. The larger, two bedroomed log cabin has a television in the living area; and our longer events include film nights. Otherwise bedrooms do not have TVs. The cabins do not have wi-fi but it is available in the main house.
Our organised events are for groups of between six and eight people. We appreciate that, for many, single occupancy is a more comfortable retreat environment and our room configuration allows for that. Some rooms are ensuite, or have private bathrooms, others share with one other room only. The maximum number of people using one bathroom is three. Guests enjoy the whole site, though some areas are cordoned off for wildlife cultivation, and can relax on the woodland terrace listening to the gurgling stream, Or there is quiet space in the studio, tea making facilities in the dining area and conservatory of the house, and plenty of books and mindful activities. Our yoga room can be used for private practice or relaxation by arrangement.
In tune with the environment
At Yogandspice we care passionately about protecting the natural environment of Valley View. So we encourage you to consider your carbon footprint when staying with us. Valley View is a low impact premises with solar panels and biomass. When we developed the site we tried to minimise the impact on the area while creating a comfortable place to stay. We provide biodegrade toiletries and cleaning products and there are recycling bins around the site. We ask guests to bring minimal plastic and packaging and have reusable bottles and cups for everyone.
We are big time animal lovers and our two cats, Dazzle and Pip and our Labrador, Rosie, enjoy the ambience of Valley View as much as we do. And they are masters of the art of relaxation. While, we do not allow our pets to enter guest areas, you will almost certainly come across them during your stay. We keep happy chickens and ducks in a small paddock and our ponies Millie and Charlie are in a neighbouring field.
If you are arranging a personal retreat and wish to bring your own furry friend to Valley View, our large log cabin is dog friendly. But we ask you to keep dogs on the lead during the nesting season. We don’t usually accept dogs on our organised events and retreats.
We are a meat free site and, as a retreat centre first and foremost, do not serve alcohol during organised events. However, the Windmill Pub at Stainsacre is a ten minute walk through woods and the Wilson Arms at Sneaton is a pleasant 40 minute stroll across fields and woodland. We encourage you to support the local economy but ask you to respect the retreat style feel of your stay.
If you are thinking about joining one of our organised events or retreats feel free to contact us to discuss the style of accommodation, main house or woodland, single double or twin, that would suit you best. We try to honour all requests but obviously rooms are allocated on a first come first served basis.
